| Backpacks for Kids – Service Project |
A Social Justice project connecting faith and families. Many families struggle to provide all of the needed school supplies for their kids. If not within your immediate parish then certainly there is a need in other parishes in your area. And don’t forget the poor in Mexico, Haiti, Central America, Africa, and other mission areas. Team up with a missionary organization if you need help distributing backpacks.
At the end of the school year lots of kids are ready to hang up their backpacks. Its a great time for a backpack drive. May & June: Collect and cleanup backpacks. In August, give them away—either to families at your parish or to a ministry serving kids. As an added bonus gather school supplies and stuff the backpacks before you give them away. Have your teens tuck in a prayer!
